The three part cafe review system of awesomeness

We like good coffee, a creative atmosphere and a superbly trained staff who are a little quirky and most importantly human, (we don’t like robots).

We like to call it the three-part, cafe-review system of awesomeness. After running this blog and being part of the coffee scene for some time we decided this was what every great cafe needs to succeed, (customers are important, but you knew that).

It doesn’t mean you have one roaster or another (although quality is important), it doesn’t mean you have wireless internet or not, or that you have late hours or not, or live music or not. It doesn’t mean a specific location or how fast I can get my drink. (Points for prompt service of course ;-). It is how I feel when I walk into your place and how you feel about the coffee you are serving.

We are located on Commercial Drive. We don’t work behind the bar, but back in our youth we used to.

Code of Ethics

Most café reviews are conducted over a few visits (first impressions count the most) and are not planned in advance.

We at some point will bring advertising to this blog, but will only accept advertising that does not conflict with our content.

Our Name

Our name The Vancouver Indy Coffee Scene came from one persons independent view of the coffee scene in Vancouver. He just happens to like a lot of independent cafes too.

Isn’t it Indie? Not Indy

Actually Indy is an homage to my old photography mentor and his newspaper at that time. The Coast Independent. Or commonly referred  to as The Indy.
